Upcoming Event at the Maritime Industry Museum

We are honored to open our inaugural visual legacy with artist Cathryn Jirlds. The exhibition begins with its monumental centerpiece: Fading Queen. This large-scale study of the SS United States serves as the gateway to the collection. In it, the legendary liner’s hull is revealed not as a storied vessel, but as an environmental autobiography. In Hidden Canvases, Jirlds invites us to look past the scale of the global fleet to discover the accidental masterpieces found on their surfaces. Join us as we reveal where the industrial patina of the sea is transformed into evocative, painterly landscapes.
