Remember your Summer Sea Terms? Of course, you do! It is those experiences and memories that have propelled you into the life that you have today.

The cost of SST continues to rise each year, and many of our cadets and their families struggle to find the money to cover these expenses. Yet, they all recognize the value of the experience of the Summer Sea Term.  As alumni, we are committed to – and receive satisfaction from – helping this new crop of cadets as much as we possibly can.

Each year, the Maritime College Alumni Association sets a goal to provide a minimum of $250,000 in scholarships every Spring to qualified cadets embarking on their 1/C and 2/C cruises aboard the Training Ship Empire State VI.

This year, not only are we committing to the $250,000 of prior years,
we are aiming to raise an additional $250,000 for a total goal of $500,000!

We realize a great need to support the cadets and we are rising to the occasion. While we were able to award scholarships amounting to $120,000 to cadets participating in the Pier Side Training Program that was set in place due to the cancellation of SST in 2020, the anticipated increase in costs for SST in 2021 has prompted us to double our appeal goal for this year.

While the MCAA runs the Annual SST Scholarship Appeal at the beginning of each calendar year, donations to the SST Scholarship Fund are welcomed throughout the year!
